Razer, the tech company known for providing gamer-focused products and services, has entered the VR market with its adjustable head strap and face interface accessories designed for the Meta Quest 2. In this hands-on review of Razer Quest 2 accessories, we take a closer look at these products.
Razer announced its plan to launch a product line of VR accessories in collaboration with medical equipment company ResMed earlier this year at CES 2023. The company’s head strap and facial interface are specifically designed for the Quest 2 and aim to provide increased comfort and longer gaming sessions.
Razer Adjustable Head Strap Review for Quest 2
The nylon material of the head strap feels high-quality, and the stitching appears durable. It’s easy to install, and adjusting it is a breeze. You can put it on by pulling it over your head like a baseball cap, and there are three Velcro tabs used to adjust the fit.
The strap provides good overall support and is comfortable despite its slim design with little thick padding. However, it’s less stable with up and down movement compared to head straps made of stiff plastic, such as the Official Elite Strap. The Razer head strap is a portable alternative as it adds minimal bulk to the headset.
Razer Face Interface Review for Quest 2
The Razer facial interface is made of thin, contoured, and textured membranes for comfort and reduced facial pressure. The silicone material is incredibly soft and molds well to your face’s contours. The foam padding is less dense than standard interfaces, but the product is still comfortable, showing excellent engineering. The interface’s design allows for a boost in field of vision by bringing the eyes closer to the lenses while featuring hypoallergenic, medical-grade materials to reduce skin irritation.
The product has vents located around it to increase airflow, prevent sweating and lens fogging, and a nose piece to block external light. It’s easy to clean and maintain because of its smooth, crack-free surface, but it becomes sticky during hot, sweaty gaming sessions, causing it to stick to your skin. Dust and fibers also clog it easily. The interface effectively blocks external light while fitting perfectly with the Quest 2.
The Razer head strap system and facial interface are now available for purchase in the US for $69.99 each. The company plans to sell these accessories in other select regions and release more details in future announcements.
